Love is in the Mountain air

Carlyne and Oliver’s love story began with a road trip.

What began as a casual trip from Roanoke to Richmond, VA, turned into something much more. Oliver decided last minute to tag along with his best friend and meet up with a group headed to a live show downtown. Among that group was Carlyne.

By chance—or maybe fate—they ended up sharing an Uber that night, squished in the backseat. However, it was anything but uncomfortable. Both Carlyne and Oliver would tell you the energy was “effortless.” Carlyne had her crew, Oliver had his, and somewhere between a few beers and spontaneous dance moves, Oliver leaned in and made the first move that sent sparks flying.

The very next weekend, Oliver was back in Richmond. They spent the evening trading takeout and deep conversation well past midnight. When it came time for Oliver to leave again, Carlyne may have shed a tear—because she knew something just felt different.

A few more weekend visits and long-distance FaceTimes sealed the deal. Before long, Oliver packed up and made the move to Richmond. The years that followed were filled with discovery: embracing each other’s interests, meeting each other’s families, and building a life together. Their relationship deepened over shared travels, more concerts, hikes along the river with their pup Todd, and time spent with the mutual friends who brought them together in the first place.

Five years later, during a snowy Ski trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Oliver proposed amidst the nature and mountains they both love so much.

But adventure was still calling… In May 2024, they took a leap and moved west to Park City, Utah, where they now call home. Life there has already brought them closer, full of new memories and a deeper sense of “us.”

Now, they can’t wait to welcome their closest people to Park City to celebrate the next chapter: getting married!

“Home is not where you are from, it is where you belong. Some of us travel the whole world to find it. Others, find it in a person.”
